This restaurant has great cajun food! We went in to order but got the food to go. They have a menu available but I had been looking at Yelp before so I had a good idea. I got their gumbo as appetizer but as a large portion. It's incredible! The flavors are so good, the roux is perfect. I've had good gumbo in the past but the flavors Cassandra's has are amazing. They serve it old-school with some of the shellfish intact so you have to cut it or get dirty but it wasn't a problem for me but my wife wouldn't eat it after she saw that lol. I also ordered the crawfish etouffee which is another great dish. I've had better etouffee but not at a restaurant. It had perfect heat level, I'm a little wimpy so I started sweating a bit but that's how I know the heat level is perfect for me! Everything was packed well and they gave plenty of utensils and napkins. The staff was very nice as well. This restaurant is not to be missed!

This was by far the best gumbo I have had. After eating my meal I had to go sit in a dark room for 5 minutes in order to process the flavors still resonating in my mouth. After a few hours of meditation and a few weeks of therapy I can easily say that this gumbo can easily make a grown man go into mental shock from the overwhelming cluster of flavors that our rushed through a mouth at one time.

Wasn't very crowded. Took my food to go as I was traveling back to Texas. Gator bites... first time and they were really good! Stuffed cornbread with crawfish etouffee, so so good (this is my favorite) Also had the dirty rice, and the red beans & sausage also good. Good selection on the menu. Great home cooking! Thank you Veronica for recommending the Gator Bites!

We stopped at Cassandra's on the way to Lafayette and had a wonderful lunch. Our party of 6 had the catfish lunch, shrimp and grits hamburger steak and veggie plate.every single thing was amazing. Salad was fresh and blue cheese dressing was so good. The fellas loved the shrimp and grits and the black eyed peas, which I usually do not like, were delicious. All the veggies were seasoned to perfection. Whoever is cooking back there really know his or her way around a kitchen. Service was friendly, welcoming and fast, the people act like they are happy to work there. If you are looking for excellent southern cooking go to Cassandra's. You will love it!

I'll add another five stars. We drove from Texarkana to try our first Cajun food, and chose Casandra's after we arrived in Shreveport. We ordered the gumbo appetizer and this sinfully creamy linguini dish of chicken, shrimp, crawfish and sausage. Our conclusion is that this cuisine is the weirdest food we ever ate...but it was terrific! Why did we wait so long to try it? Casandra's is wonderful place. The staff, especially Asia, were devoted to this business, a sign of good management. You can feel the friendliness. It was as though the staff and us customers were family. We love the food. We love the people.
